CRT 320 PROJECTS
by Ben Samuels
PENPLOTTER
For this project, we built our own CNC machines. We used dry erase pens to help displace the movement of the penplotter. We used Fusion 360 to design the drawings and we used a program called UGS to make the gcode to actually get the penplotter to move. In the end this project was pretty rough but it was pretty interesting none the less.
PLASMA CUT BEE SIGN
For this project, we were tasked with making a stand and making a design for it. We then used our plasma cutter to cut out the design and legs. Afterwards, we used the angle grinder so polish is at make it all nice and shiny. I enjoyed this one a lot. I really liked polishing the plate.
CAMPFIRE STOOL
For this project, I had to design a stool to sit on my a campfire. Once I did this I designed it in Fusion 360 and then made it so I could use the Crawlbot. After doing this, I then used the Crawlbot to cut out the individual pieces of the campfire stool. After trimming the fringe off, I assembled everything together. After using testing, people really seemed to like it because it rocks a little bit.
FINAL PROJECT THE SAMUELS STAND
For this project, I had to make something using all the knowledge I have accrued over this class. I decided to make the vinyl stand I made for my last Hackathon. My first prototype wasn't very structurally sound so I wanted to make a better version. I wanted to use the Crawlbot and MDF to help do this. I think that if I were to make this again, I would make the tolerances a little looser because it was a little tough getting the middle part in so instead of .5 in, I think I'd want to make it .6 or even a little more. Anyways, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.
